Europe’s largest two wheeler manufacturer, KTM in which Bajaj Auto owns 47% stake has acquired 100% stake in cult motorcycle brand – Husqvarna from its German rival BMW Motorrad.
The last time Husqvarna changed hands was when BMW recently took over the brand from European bike major, MV Agusta in 2008. The purchase price of the new deal has not been revealed for now.
Whether KTM (along with stake holder Bajaj) stands to benefit in any way from Husqvarna changing hands remains to be seen. KTM already own their very own off-road brand of motorcycles, Husaberg.
The sale agreement of Husqvarna from BMW to Pierer Industrie AG is confirmed, only subject to a clean chit from the anti-trust authorities.
