Improved Mahindra XUV500 in the works, launch end-Febraury

Mahindra XUV500

Although the Mahindra’s flagship model, the XUV500 was an instant success in the market it always faced some serious drawbacks ever since the launch. I myself had spoken to person at Mahindra authorized service centre about the issue, and he revealed saying that the company is working on this issue, once sort Mahindra will launch an upgraded XUV500 without any changes in the exterior and existing owners might be recalled.

Now the folks at Cartoq reveal Mahindra will launch the new and improved version of XUV500 silently by the end of February. According to the same, the company will significantly improve the brakes though it should be noted that the XUV already has disc brakes on all four wheels as well as ABS. The infotainment and voice command system is also expected to get an upgrade and will most likely be the unit that was introduced on the Mahindra Xylo E9 variant last-year.

The other changes in the infotainment system in the W8 model has been trouble with little niggling problems – from GPS system not working, to parking sensor and optional camera malfunction, to iPod and Bluetooth connectivity issues. This system is being replaced with an upgraded version, which hopefully should have all the issues sorted out in it. However, despite the success, Mahindra received a significant number of complaints with regard to various issues on the SUV and is now upgrading it based on customer feedback.

The report also says that the SUV will get a few other minor improvements but has not given any specific details in this regard. Also the transmission overheating and vibration issues with the all-wheel drive variant too have been sorted out, considering Mahindra is taking bookings for the AWD again. The overall design and engine options are all expected to remain the same as the old model.

Therefore, if you’ve been waiting to buy an XUV500, it would be better to hang on just a little longer!
