The German car manufacturer, BMW has officially unveiled the 2014 BMW Z4 Roadster, an updated version to the classic BMW that will be shown at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show and will go on-sale globally next-year with an Indian launch slated to happen sometime in the second half of 2013. The 2014 BMW Z4 gets minor changes on the outside and the refresh can be termed as a mild facelift at best.
Besides the 3-new color options of Mineral Gray metallic, Glacier Silver metallic and Valencia Orange metallic, a slightly upgraded interior, the 2014 BMW Z4 gets an optional M Sport Package, which adds an adaptive M suspension, 18-inch M light-alloy wheels and an M aerodynamics package with large air intakes in the front wing and a rear bumper inlay painted Anthracite metallic and some nice interior touches.
The top on the 2014 BMW Z4 can be dropped with a touch of a button while the car is traveling 40 kph. The whole converting process takes 19 seconds.
Engine options and models will be same as its earlier counterpart with a 240 hp 2.0-liter four cylinder turbocharged sDrive 28i engine, a 300 hp six cylinder turbo sDrive 35i engine and a 335 hp turbo six sDrive 35i. The sDrive 35is will be available mated to a 7-speed DCT dual clutch transmission while sDrive 28i will be mated to a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic.
Upcoming Z4 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 221 kmph. Fuel consumption is pegged at 6.8 liters per 100 km. Pricing will be announced closer to launch dates.
