Recently the rendered image of the concept vehicle by Maruti Suzuki XA-Alpha were released by the European media Auto Motor Und Sport, considering they might also receive the same model that will initially be launched in India. The XA-Alpha concept SUV was unveiled at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. It’s been more than a year and nothing much is heard about the SUV going for production. In previous years Maruti has managed to launch the production version of their concepts in a very short span of time, but for some unseen reasons the XA is taking longer than the other vehicles although the SUV was expected to be launched sometime in 2013.

The SUV segment in India is picking up heat real fast and competition is only increasing as ever, in such scenario it is important the SUV`s design and styling has to be done to match up with the international standards including a catchy name. The SUV will be packaged as a sub-4-metre vehicle which will help Maruti to keep the price under control and avail the benefit of lower excise duty.

There is not much known about the technical specs so far, but there is a good chance that the mechanical characteristics will be taken from the Swift. Maruti has a wide range K-series petrol engine and 1.3-litre DDIS diesel engine to choose from, also once Maruti is ready with its own diesel engines they can cut down the price even further.
