As promised, Hyundai Motors India recently launched the Grand i10 petrol automatic hatchback in two variants, Sportz and Asta. With the prices for Sportz variant at Rs. 5.64 lakh and the Asta variant at Rs. 5.91 lakh respectively. This is about 60-70 thousand rupees pricier than their respective manual gearbox variants, decent amounts to pay for the additional convenience that an automatic gearbox delivers. Now the folks at Fly-Wheel claim that Korean car manufacturer has confirmed the launch of Grand i10 diesel automatic on December 5th, 2013.

The petrol automatic variant of Grand i10 is empowered with 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine generating the power of 79 bhp and torque of 112 Nm. The automatic gearbox is a 4-speed unit that we have seen in the i10 and i20 hatchbacks. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency for the Grand i10 auto is not disclosed yet. But the bookings for the same has already commenced at all Hyundai dealers across the nation with the amount of Rs. 10,000/- and expect the deliveries to begin in next couple of weeks. The Grand i10 petrol AT competes with the likes of Maruti Ritz AT, Honda Brio AT and Nissan Micra CVT.

Talking about the diesel automatic variant of Grand i10, it is scheduled to launch in December 5th, while the sales of the Grand i10 diesel automatic will begin only from January-2014 onwards. Hyundai Grand i10 diesel automatic is powered by the same 1.1-litre three cylinder engine which makes 69 bhp of power and 160 Nm of torque. The power to front wheels is transited through the same 4-speed automatic gearbox. The Grand i10 diesel AT won’t see a massive drop in fuel-efficiency and is expected to be available in both Sportz and Asta trim levels. Once launched, the Grand i10 diesel AT would be the only sub-10 lakh rupees diesel automatic car with a speculated price of in the range of Rs 7.5 to 9.5 lakh.

The recently launched Grand i10 petrol automatic need some time to get the momentum that’s why the diesel automatic sales would begin only in January-2014.
