The cruiser segment in India has been given a new lease of life in the past couple of years. Launches like the Royal Enfield Himalayan and Bajaj Dominar have undoubtedly been a runaway success and taken the segment to a whole new level in recent times.
News is that Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) also wants to cash in on this ever growing demand for middle-weight motorcycle with an engine displacement ranging between 250 cc to 750 cc. The motorcycle is in early-stages of development which suggests that it would be years before the final production model hits the streets.
The motorcycle is likely to share some design cues from Honda’s international cruises – the Rebel 300 and 500. The company has appointed a team of engineers from Japan and Thailand to work jointly with Indian team to develop this bike. If things work-out as calculated, Honda might export the upcoming motorcycle to Japan as well.
The motorcycle could receive features like both front and rear disc brakes with ABS. As with the rest of its lineup on-sale in India, the upcoming middle-weight motorcycles may come at a decent price which could be in the range of Royal Enfield’s cruisers and the Bajaj Dominar.
