Honda Brio-based MPV to launch next month in Indonesia

Honda Brio-based MPV

Although Brio-based MPV was scheduled to be launched at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) this September, the competition from other brands is pushing Honda to speed up the development of this new MPV. Now the folks at Otomotif.kompas.com reports that Honda has preponed the launch of its Brio MPV in the auto market of Indonesia by the end of April, 2013.

The new Brio has been equipped with the same engine and platform as that of the traditional Brio but there is expectation in attracting pricing of this car about Rs 7.8 to 10 lakh. It is said to be powered by the same engine as the sedan Amaze that means Brio MPV will be powered by both type of engine options that are 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol & 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel.

For larger families Brio MPV would be a desired car which reduces the overall transportation charges of the family which can accommodate 7-adult passengers comfortably including the driver. Indonesia will be the first country to have Honda Brio MPV but the Brio-based MPV will take next two-years to make its debut in India, as it will be heavily localized and manufactured either at its Greater Noida plant or the Tapukara plant.
