Hero Motocorp can be considered a pioneer because they launched the dual-terrain motorcycle, Impulse which was the first of its kind in India and now, after a few years of launching the Impulse, Hero Motocorp is all set to become a pioneer again, and this time because they will be launching a proper dirt motorcycle.

Hero Motocorp is on a roll, bringing out new and pioneering products. They displayed their potential at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo by displaying some really interesting products, of which many have already been launched, so it would not be surprising when one hears that Hero Motocorp is planning to launch a dirt bike in the Indian market.

It has been confirmed that hero Motocorp will be launching a proper, competition ready dirt bike which will be christened as the Sparkle. it will be the first of its kind in the country and will be priced under Rs. 50000. It will be based on a lightweight, strengthened chassis, and will sport fibre bodywork. It will be powered by a 2-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled petrol engine, putting out a measly 4.6 BHP, but thanks to the light materials used in the manufacturing, the sparkle will weigh less than 90 kilograms which in turn will help the tiny engine to power it to a top speed of more than 100 KMPH.

Hero Motocorp is a manufacturer whose products sell in huge volumes and by launching a product like the Sparkle, they will be stepping out of their comfort zone. the Sparkle is a typical dirt bike, and in typical dirt bike fashion, will not have turn indicators, or a headlamp or a tail-lamp or even registration number plates and will be running on dirt terrain knobbly tires and all these things only mean one thing : that it is not a road-legal motorcycle, which means dismal sales numbers for Hero Motocorp.

Hero Motocorp will be launching the Sparkle by the end of this year, and we will just have wait and watch how it does in the Indian market.
