Mahindra has launched a new commercial of their all new SUV, XUV500. After seeing the advertisement, we find it difficult to understand what actually is getting promoted here, carrots or XUV500. The ad shows a man having dinner with his friend in a posh restaurant. Suddenly he sees a waitress serving carrots, which makes our hero very uncomfortable. Our hero then narrates, why he doesn’t like carrots.
Mahindra XUV500 bookings opened once again, for the second time since its launch last September, on the 25th this month. Within two days, Mahindra announced that they have received over 5,900 bookings for XUV500! In order to be fair to their customers, Mahindra has setup a lottery system. So if the total number of bookings exceeds 7,200, (which it has already) Mahindra will use the lottery system to select their customers. What we don’t understand here is that even after having such a tremendous response, how did Mahindra manage to come up with a promotion like this?
“The response to the XUV500 has been overwhelming and the demand is very good. The management will make every effort to ramp up production. Last month, we produced about 2,500 units and in the very near future we are looking to take it up to 3,000 units. By ‘very near future’, we mean about two to three months, but we have to keep in mind that ramping up production involves increasing supplies from our vendors too and hence it has to be a gradual process,” Mr. Arun Malhotra, Senior VP (Customer care and Sales ) Mahindra & Mahindra said.(See the video below the jump)
