The Gold leafing studio, the Mumbai based flagship store of Shehzad khan that infuses the ancient art of gold leading into new-age décor, today unveiled the Golden Vintage Fiat Car as a tribute to Mumbai’s much adored classic luxury car of yester years – The FIAT 1100-103 an 1100cc, 36 PS four door sedan with a short tail commonly known as Dukkar Fiat.
This Fiat 1100-103 is decorated with genuine 24 carat Gold and Silver leafing using the ancient art of leafing in its truest form. The car is decorated using technique of applying fine gold leaf to its surface. A gold leaf of 98-99 percent purity is beaten into a semi-transparent foil and then pasted to the car with a strong adhesive enough to withstand climatic changes.
Speaking on the occasion, Shehzad Khan – Chief Artist, Gold Leafing Studio says “The vintage Fiat car is an attempt to re-create and relive Mumbai’s golden era. The gold metal leafing, attributes to the opulence and autocracy the car enjoyed during its era. We believe that imagination is probably where creativity begins, which in turn fosters art and this is our way of paying a tribute to the maximum city”
With design lines almost fading between retail, hospitality and commercial spaces, leafing imparts the built-in luxury that help modern day interiors define their affluence and set themselves a distinct identity. The Gold leafing Studio offers artwork ranging from gold & silver, bronze & copper to champagne applying different textures to create varied and astonishingly dissimilar looks.
Commenting about infusing ancient art into niche designs, Imran Khan, Principal Artist, The Gold Leafing Studio says, “People who enjoy ethnic & classy look in their interiors, go for gold leafing; while silver leafing is suitable for giving a contemporary & modern look. For an antique lover, copper leafing can be done on the carved corners of the dining table, backrest of chairs or even the handles of sofas”
The Rose Gold Vintage car which will be showcased at Index 2012 exhibition from 18th October 2012 to 22nd October 2012 at BKC Ground, Bandra East.
