As already read by our dear readers in our previous posts in the month of November-2013 at BharathAutos, Ford had planned to launch 4 new models which included a Figo replacement, a compact car, new Endeavour and a hatchback. Ford cars have a minimum lifespan of 5 years and knowing the fact that Figo was released in 2010, the new model or its replacement is due for its launch in 2015.
Next-gen Ford Ka will be named ‘Figo’ when it goes on-sale in India.
The upcoming model would be based on the international Ford Ka concept and would be built at Ford’s manufacturing facility at Sanand, in Gujarat. Putting an end to rumors, the latest reports confirm that Ford Figo is still in production and the company said “the Ford Figo continues to be part of its portfolio and was also recently launched with updated interiors.” Ford exports the Figo to some 40 global markets and with the successor not in sight, pulling the plug blindly would not be an option.

Ford is targeting maximum possible localization for the upcoming new Figo in order to aggressively price and keep it close to the current-gen model. The upcoming new Figo is expected to share parts with companies flagship model EcoSport and the recently updated Fiesta to achieve cost benefits. It is also expected to be built on new design language featuring Aston Martin like front hexagonal grille. Coming to the technical specifications, the new Figo is expected to be powered with a 1.5L turbo diesel motor already powering the Fiesta & EcoSport along with 1.0L EcoBoost turbo petrol engine replacing the previous 1.2L petrol motor.
