Ford Figo cross-eyed to arrive with 1.2-litre Dragon petrol engine

Ford India is likely to launch a Crossover version of the Figo in early-2018, also set to be showcased in the 2018 Auto Expo. Sources say that the car is likely to be named the ‘Ford Figo Active’ or ‘Ford Figo Free style’. The cross-over has been recently spotted undisguised in unknown location.

Based on the Figo hatchback sold here, the cross-over will get some mechanical updates and premium features. Ford is set to give the cross over an SUV like styling which could make  the car look tough. Exterior changes will include a raised suspension, roof rails, body cladding and larger wheels to give it a cross over look.

But the biggest talking point of the car will be the newly developed 1.2 litre Dragon petrol engine. This 3-cylinder motor will give 95 BHP of power and 115 Nm of torque. Ford will also stuff this engine in the Figo and aspire facelifts, also set for launch this-year.

The cross over will be based on the MX65 transmission, which will be lighter and accurate than the existing 1B5 gearbox. It is also expected to be seen in AMT in its later stage. Ford will launch the cross over at the end of 2018 and it will rival the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X and the Toyota Etios Cross.
