Ford India recently unveiled its all-new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT aka the Dragon engine, 3-cylinder petrol engine which will be made available for customers in India and for global markets.
The new 1.5 petrol engine is said to be lighter, stronger and more efficient. It will produce an exciting 123 BHP at 6,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. The company has kept this engine devoid of advanced technologies like direct injection and turbocharging to keep the costs low. The engine will be introduced on EcoSport facelift later this-year.
Strengthening its commitment to the Government’s ‘Make in India’ policy, the new engine will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Sanand, Gujarat. Ford’s engineering team in India has steered the development of the new engine right from scratch, and has more than 80 percent parts being sourced from Indian suppliers.
