Italian supercar maker Ferrari roared into India on Thursday with its first showroom in Delhi. With prices starting from Rs 2.2 crore, four models are now available for bookings – the California, the 458 Italia, the 599 GTB Fiorano and the four-door FF.
Amedeo Felisa, Ferrari SpA Chief Executive Officer said, “Till yesterday, Ferrari was present in 57 countries. Now we are in the 58th country, which is India. We should have been in India much before and we expect to be able to sell more than 100 cars in the next 2-3 years.”
Ferrari has appointed the Shreyans Group as its official importer in India. Bookings for the cars start on thursday with the opening of the first dealership in the national capital. The second showroom is scheduled to open in Mumbai in the second half of 2011.
The Shreyans Group is involved with luxury retail in India, including interests in products such as yachts, super bikes, fashion articles and jewellery, besides cars.
The prices of the Ferrari cars in India are as follows –
- Ferrari California: Rs. 2.2 Crore (Ex-showroom price, Delhi)
- Ferrari 458 Italia: Rs. 2.56 Crore(Ex-showroom price, Delhi)
- Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano: Rs. 3.37 Crore (Ex-showroom price, Delhi)
- Ferrari FF: Rs. 3.41 Crore(Ex-showroom price, Delhi)
Ferrari is the third sports car maker to open a showroom in India after Aston Martin and Koenigsegg this year. Aston Martin is offering India’s most expensive car, the Rs. 20 Crore One-77. The Luxury car sector in India is expected to double this year and Ferrari wants to take advantage of this situation. It remains to be seen if Ferrari’s launch will be followed by the entry of its primary competitor Lamborghini in to the Indian market.
