BMW 1-series compact luxury hatchback – ExteriorView
Like other luxury car manufacturer, BMW India recently launched an entry-level car 1-Series hatchback in India at a starting price of Rs 20.90 lakh for the base petrol variant. This is one of the biggest launch by BMW India this year , in presence of India’s cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar. Launched across India, it will compete with Mercedes-Benz A Class, B Class and Volvo V40 Cross Country.
The new 1-series compact luxury hatchback in India, is available in petrol and diesel variant, the base petrol model, 116i is the priced at Rs 20.90 lakh. However, only one trim will be on offer in petrol, while in diesel there will be three trims on offer. 118d, 118d Sport, 118d Sport Plus. Price of these variants is at Rs 22.90 lakh, Rs 25.90 lakh, and Rs 29.90 lakh respectively.
The petrol motor equipped 1-Series has 1.6-litre turbocharged offering 136 bhp power and 220 Nm torque mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The car gets a top speed of 210 Kph while the 0-100 Kph sprint is managed in 8.7 seconds. An ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 16.28 Kmpl is what the petrol engine 1-Series brings to the table.

Diesel variant will be powered by 2.0-litre TwinPower turbo engines offering 143 bhp and 320 Nm torque. Like the petrol version, this engine too comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 1-Series in the diesel avatar does the 0-100 Kph dash in 8.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 212 Kph. With an ARAI certified 20.58 Kmpl makes the diesel powered 1-Series one of the most fuel efficient BMW car sold in India.
The 1-Series hatchback is available in a choice of 8 colors, Alpine White (non metallic), Black Sapphire, Crimson red, Deep sea blue, Glacier silver, Midnight Blue, Mineral grey, and Valencia Orange, the new 1 Series will be built at BMW India’s Chennai assembly unit, from imported completely knocked down (CKD) kits.
