At the Indian Auto expo held in Delhi earlier this year, American Automobile manufacturer Ford had showcased the face-lift of its global entry-level sedan, the Fiesta, and at the time the only changes between the old and new, were cosmetic and aesthetic but not mechanical and we expected the car to be powered by the current range of engines, but we were proved wrong.

Fresh reports have now emerged that Ford will discontinue the production of the petrol engine powering the Fiesta. Yes, you heard it right, the face-lifted Ford Fiesta will be made available only with an oil-burner under the hood. Ford has released a brochure which mentions that the car will be powered by the same 1.5 liter TDCi turbo-diesel engine being used in the current Fiesta, with 89 PS of max power and 204 NM of max torque. However, the brochure did not mention any details about a petrol engine.
The new face-lifted Fiesta will be equipped with many premium features like ‘guide me home’ headlamps, height adjustable driver’s seat, split-folding rear seat, remote locking and electrically adjustable mirrors, all as standard equipment, and other features will be added in accord with the trim chosen.

The Fiesta will be available in three trim levels, namely, Ambiente, Trend and Titanium, positioned in that order. The Ambiente will miss out on other features available in the higher trims, features like six-speaker audio system with CD, USB and Aux-in connectivity, leather-wrapped steering wheel, body colored mirrors and door handles, wheel covers and cruise control etc. The Titanium Trim goes a level ahead, and adds alloy wheels, automatic headlamps and wipers, puddle lamps, electrically folding mirrors, key-less entry and go and rear parking sensors etc. to the features already available!
Ford has chosen not to compromise with safety, and hence safety features like ABS, EBD and driver side Airbags are standard equipment on the Fiesta. The company has already started dispatching the Fiesta face-lift, to dealerships, signaling an imminent launch within few days.
