Groupe PSA are all set to commence their India operations come 2021. This group consists of brands such as Peugeot, Citroen, Opel and Vauxhall. It has been confirmed that the group have selected brand Citroen to enter the Indian market.
Citroen models for India will be produced from Groupe PSA’s recently inaugurated plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The plant, costing around INR.600 crore, has been constructed in association with the CK Birla Group. Now, sources have come out regarding Citroen’s plans for the Indian market.
It is said that Citroen will be launching at least one model from their global line-up from 2021 onwards. The Citroen range consists of the C3, C4, C5 Aircross and the Berlingo. Models such as the C3, C4 and the C5 are available in multiple body styles globally, which Citroen may find ideal for the Indian market.
India will be the first such market where the strategy will be used from Citroen. Recently, MG Motor India revealed a similar strategy of bringing their global models here. Coming back to Citroen, the C5 Aircross, a mid-size SUV from the automaker, has been spied testing in India.
This may have given us a hint that the vehicle will be at least one of Citroen’s first models here. There has been talk that Groupe PSA are also readying the Peugeot brand for India. Though there has been no confirmation regarding this, we can expect a clear one to arrive here soon.
