Benelli Leoncino spotted: Ducati Scrambler rival set for launch in 2018

Benelli has a good range of sports bikes available in India currently. Now the Italian marquee has decided to enter the Scrambler motorcycle segment in India, by introducing the Benelli Leoncino Scrambler. This will be a part of the bike maker’s aggressive product strategy for India.

The Leoncino Scrambler was recently spotted undergoing testing and is expected to debut at the Auto Expo 2018 in February. It was wrapped in camouflage and had some distinctive design elements. One of them is a 3D lion mascot on the front fender, paying tribute to the original Leoncino.

The motorcycle has projector headlamps with black housing, twin petal disc brakes and a low down seat holding a slim tail lamp. Power is expected to come from a 499.6cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine giving 47 bhp of power and 45 Nm of torque. This engine will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Benelli will bring this motorcycle to India via the CKD route. This bike will also be a part of the new retro-classic styled scrambler, which is fast gaining popularity. The Leoncino Scrambler from Benelli is expected to be priced around Rs. 5 lakh and compete with the Ducati Scrambler and the Triumph Bonneville Street Twin.
