Bajaj’s upcoming scooter might be the Blade 125

Bajaj Blade Concept - FrontView

Couple of week before, we posted an article saying Bajaj Auto is working on re-entering the Indian scooter market by coming up with an automatic scooter. And we at BharathAutos were the first to reveal that Bajaj’s upcoming automatic scooter might be the Blade 125 Concept, now the sources too speculate the same.

The Bajaj Blade Concept was first showcased at 2006 Auto Expo with some unique features and amazing technology powered by a 160cc engine. And at the 2008 Auto Expo, its most refined version was showcased with a front fuelling system for convenience and large 12-inch alloy wheels and disc brakes that give it a sporty handling but featured a 125cc DTSi engine.

The sources close to us reveal, Bajaj might come out with a scooter based on the Blade 125 that was showcased at the 2008 Auto Expo. As alongside the Bajaj Blade, two new motorcycles in the form of the XCD Sprint (Pulsar 135) and the Discover 150 DTSi were also showcased at the 2008 Auto Expo. Both these motorcycles hit the production floor while the Blaze is still not on-sale.

Once launched, the Blade 125 will target not just the girls but also the working and young males. Disc brakes, Telescopic front fork, 12 inch wheels, digital instrument cluster, front fuel filling and superior suspension settings will set a new benchmark for other scooters. Bike owners may take back their words, Blade is not just for commuting it will be peppy and compete even with the motorcycles.

Under the skin, the Blade 125 is likely to be powered by a 125cc-air cooled four stroke engine that features a 4 valve head. This engine was mated to a CVT automatic transmission. Ever since, this four valve head with DTSi twin spark technology has made it onto the Bajaj Discover 125 ST commuter motorcycle. So, Bajaj Auto has a ready engine platform to use in its latest automatic scooter.

Although nothing official has been made yet! It is quite possible that Bajaj Auto is working on a production version of the Blade Concept which promises to be quite a fun to ride package. And is rumored to be launched sometime in the middle of 2013, that is just about 6 months from now.
