Audi have recently opened the pre-bookings for their much-awaited SUV, the Q8, for India. The Q8 is slated to launch here by the end of this year. It was spotted testing here numerous times in the last couple of years.
Audi first unveiled the Q8 during the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Since then, the Q8 became one of the most eagerly-awaited SUV’s to be launched globally. Audi went on to showcase the production-ready version of the Q8 in June 2018.
It was set for its India launch in mid-2019, before Audi took its time to confirm the Q8 for India in late-2018. Design-wise, the production version of the Q8 has quite a few similarities compared to its concept form. It will come with features such as Matrix LED headlights, heated front and rear leather seats and 21-inch alloy wheels.
The highlight of the Q8 will be the twin touchscreen infotainment system having advanced multi-media controls. This system was recently acquired by Audi and will be interesting to know about its working. Engine-wise, the Q8 will feature a 3.0 litre TDI diesel motor.
This motor produces 286 BHP of power and 600 Nm of torque. It will be mated to an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission. Audi claims the Q8 can reach the 0-100 kmph barrier in 6.3 seconds.
The Q8 is expected to be priced from Rs. 1.1 crore (ex-showroom, India) onwards. It will have its rivals in the BMW X6 and the Range Rover Sport. The Q8 will be positioned above the Q7, thus making it Audi’s biggest model in its line-up.
