Audi India has recently launched a more powerful version of the A4 sedan. The car now gets the tuned 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine with more power and torque. This diesel engine now produces 177 Bhp of power at 4200 RPM and 380 Nm of torque between 1750-2500 RPM. This is the same engine that features in the Q3 compact SUV and A6 sedan.
Earlier the same 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine was earlier producing 141 Bhp and 320 Nm in the Audi A4. And also continues to use the same Multitronic transmission, but now takes 7.9 seconds as against the 9.6 seconds of the previous model. The ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure for the A4 with the 177 Bhp diesel engine is 17.11 Kmpl.
Apart from the change in engine tune, the A4 gets the Audi Drive Select that allows the driver to alter the suspension settings, offering the driver four modes to choose from: Comfort, Dynamic, Auto and Individual modes. The German automaker has priced the more powerful Audi A4 at Rs. 31.74 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
Currently, the A4 is available in 4 trims, starting from 1.8 TFSI 170 bhp, 2.0 TDI 143 bhp, 2.0 TDI 177 bhp and 3.0 TDI 245 bhp. The 140 Bhp version of the Audi A4 diesel will be discontinued soon. Price difference between the two 2.0 TDI variants is not much, as the 140 bhp version costs Rs. 30.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), that is just cheaper by about Rs. 1.25 lakh when compared with the 177 Bhp version.
