German luxury carmaker Audi is planning to launch its A3 sports sedan in India at a price less than Rs 2 million, with an aim to boost its sales volume in the country, it said.”We have certain products in mind which we want to introduce to gain leadership position in the Indian market. We are looking at adding on A3 to our portfolio and are conducting a market study to assess the feedback among consumers here,” Audi India Head Michael Pershcke said. Pershcke refused to disclose the time for launch of its A3 sedan.
Audi A3 concept integrates the single-frame grille with its tapered upper corners and headlights with the latest generation of LED technology. The low, flowing roof dome and a coupe-like, low C pillar are among the defining features of the side view.
The Audi A3 concept is 4.44 meters (14.57 feet) long, 1.84 meters (6.04 feet) wide and just 1.39 meters (4.56 feet) high. These proportions emphasize the dynamism of the car’s appearance, as do the performance figures for the drive unit. The five-cylinder turbocharged engine has a power output of 300 kW (408 hp). It distributes its power to all four wheels through a seven-speed S tronic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive.
Audi India has also launched the A7 Sportback and the RS5 in India. Audi will be launching the A6 by mid 2011 and also will get the new Q3 in India by 2012.
