Audi India this week launched two new cars in the Indian market. The new additions to Audi’s portfolio in India are the 2011 Audi A7 Sportback and the RS5 Sports Coupe. The new models will help Audi India to further strengthen its position on the luxury market.
Audi has launched its latest A7 Sportback in India. This Sportback is more of a style and image statement for Audi than a practical option as a luxury saloon. The A7 with its coupe like lines will compete with likes of Aston Martin Rapide, Mercedes CLS and Porsche Panamera.
The A7 will be available with two engine options; a 3.0-litre TDi V6 diesel motor churning out 245bhp and 50.98kgm of torque from 1400rpm, and a 3.0-litre TFSi petrol motor.
The A7’s front end has an aggressive stance with the single frame Audi family grill styling incorporated with striking LED Headlamps. The design overall resembles the flagship Audi A8 sedan but has a distinctive for door coupe styling. The interior is loaded with acres of leather, wood and brushed aluminum combo with a pop-up navigation system screen.
Both the 3.0-litre diesel and 3.0-litre petrol variants are available for Rs 64lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The fully loaded A7 will cost around Rs 85lakh. Deliveries of the Sportback will commence from May.
In a move to boost its premium high-performance image, Audi has also launched the new RS5 Coupe in India. The RS5 Coupe gets a reworked version of the 4.2-litre V8 motor from the R8, with an increase in power output which is now 444bhp at 8250rpm, while developing a max torque of 43.96kgm at 4000rpm.
This gives the Coupe a 0-100kph time of 4.6sec with a limited top speed of 250kph. The power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed DSG unit. Priced at Rs 76lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, only 20-30 RS5 Coupes will make it to India.
