Audi is going full throttle in Indian market! After launching luxury sedan A8 in the country recently, the German car maker is planning yet another high profile launch this year. The car will be Audi RS5 performance coupe! Audi India is quite optimistic about the car doing well after it got good response for R8 in Indian market.
Showcased at the last year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Audi RS5 is a coupe which gets a new front splitter design apart from the Audi goatee grille along with bigger air intakes. 19 inch wheels would be standard fare but for the ones desiring exclusivity, there would also be 20 inchers on offer. Other than, there is a techno fare in the name of the rear spoiler, which likes a Buggati Veyron, opens up after a certain speed limit to aid stability. Inside, the car would get three modes of operation. Those are Comfort, Auto and Dynamic. According to the mode selected, the car would adjust its steering weight, sport differentials, engine, Dynamic Ride control, shift points in the gearbox and also tune up the exhaust system.
The Audi RS5 in India would be getting the same 4.2 litre V8 engine from the Audi R8 but then it would be tweaked to develop better power output. The reworked motor would now produce 444 Bhp of peak power at 8250 rpm whereas the peak torque of 43.96 kgm would be produced at 4000 rpm. Expect lap times from 0-100 kmph in 4.6 seconds whereas the top speed would be an electronically limited one of 250 kmph. The gearbox would be the 7 speed DSG unit and Audi’s fabled Quattro system would be present as well. According to Audi, the RS5 would have a new set of differentials which splits the power by about 85% to the rear axle and to the front by about 70%. As with all Quattro systems, in normal mode, the power split is 40:60 front to rear. Expect the Audi RS5 in India to be priced between Rs. 95 lakhs to Rs. 1.25 crore.
