A lot of Mahindra Thar fans were waiting for this – a custom-built Mahindra Thar from DC Designs that adds a rugged appeal yet not sacrificing the contemporary Jeep-ish design, unlike the earlier one referred as an “urban convertible off-roader”.
With the amount of Thar models plying on Indian roads, you may start to feel a little bored with the Thar, but now we have DC Designs to spice-it up! The Pune-based customizing firm has released a teaser sketches of what the Thar will get, and new package could be on offer at large scale considering the demand.
From what we can see – redesigned front bumper with an integrated bull bar & two auxiliary lights, sculpted fenders get integrated LED DRLs with turn-indicators and body-coloured ORVMs on the right-side. Adding attraction to the rear profile is the wraparound tinted glass panels on the quarter window and rear windshield.
Other differences can be seen with a custom floating roof given two auxiliary lights & grooves to accommodate luggage racks, high-mount stop lamp, C-shaped tail lamp cluster, redesigned rear bumper with an integrated foot rest, revised tailgate and we can see two lights peeking-out below the spare tyre, probably a reverse light and turn-signals.
The custom-built Mahindra Thar by DC Design also gets bead-lock alloy rims and wider bull rocker tyres for some earth moving grip that also adds to the rugged appeal. Mechanically unchanged, it still runs with an untouched 105 BHP/247 Nm CRDe 2.5-litre diesel engine or 63 BHP/195 Nm M2DICR 2.5-litre diesel mill, both are paired to 5-speed manual gearbox.
