The all-new Bajaj V15 has been officially launched in Indian market. The V15 will be positioned between the Discover and the Pulsar range priced under Rs. 65,000, and available in dealerships from March-2016.
Strengthening, Bajaj’s commuter motorcycle line-up the bike is on-sale in 2 different colours – Ebony Black and Pearl White, both of which feature contrasting red decals across the tank and side panels. The major unique feature of the V15 is the removable rear cowl, which can convert the bike into a trendy single seater in less than a minute.
The major highlight of the V15 is that the bike is made from the metal of INS Vikrant, India’s first aircraft carrier which played a pivotal role in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. In an attempt to pay tribute to this iconic warship, Bajaj has recycled this and used it to make the fuel tank of the V15. It also features INS Vikrant logo.
Feature-wise, the V15 gets 60W halogen headlamp, analog-digital instrument cluster with colour changing LED indications (including fuel gauge), wide handlebar, premium textured seat, stubby exhaust canister, 10-spoke black alloy wheels, wide profile tyres, disc brake up-front, 33mm diameter telescopic fork with a dust cover, twin shock absorber on swingarm, a retro-styled LED tail-lamp and a detachable rear seat cowl.
Under the skin, the V15 borrows its heart from the Pulsar 150, which is powered by a 149.5cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled DTS-i engine that is coupled to a 5-speed transmission. Its 2-valve engine produces maximum power of 11.76bhp at 7,500rpm with peak torque of 13Nm at 5,500rpm. Stopping power comes from a 240 mm disc brake at the front and a 130 mm drum brake at the rear.
Bajaj Auto claims that the V15 is the only bike in the segment which can start from 0 kmph in any gear, with a pillion.
