Thus, within 4 months of its launch, the Alto 800′s managed to pass the momentous landmark of 100,000 units, making it India’s fastest selling car in 2012-13. To be exact the Alto 800 managed to clock 1 lakh units within 124 days of its launch. The feat was achieved in the 2nd week of March-2013.
Refresher – Maruti Alto 800 comes powered by a 796cc 3 cylinder engine which generates a maximum power output of 47.5 bhp at 6000 rpm with a torque output of 69 Nm coming at 3500 rpm. This engine is mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The base model of Alto 800 is available for Rs 2.44 lakhs and top model of CNG Alto 800 is price at Rs 3.56 lakhs (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
