2021 Mahindra Scorpio – how a SUV could look like

Mahindra & Mahindra recently updated the Scorpio to meet the current emission requirements, but nothing new exists apart from the BS6-compliance that the update carried with it. The Scorpio has been on-sale in the country for nearly 18 years now, the home-grown carmaker hasn’t yet introduced an all-new model upgrade for the aging SUV.

But spy shots of a new-gen Scorpio test mules started to emerge late last-year and we couldn’t help but rejoice. Since a couple of times the new-gen SUV was spied on-test wearing heavy camouflage, Cartoq’s rendering artist Vipin Vathoopan has taken it upon himself to “kick start” the movement with this production-ready render of how a 2021 Mahindra Scorpio could look-like.

The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will be bigger than the current model.

At the front, the 2021 Scoripo sports Mahindra’s signature vertical slat grille, which is flanked by more sleek looking projector headlamps combined with LED DRLs. The production-ready new-generation Scorpio is expected to retain its boxy design just like the rendered car, but the addition of modern touches both inside and outside the cabin will make it a more attractive offer.

The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will be lengthier and more spacious in terms of size than its predecessor. The current-gen model ‘s bold and rugged design will also be carried over on the new model. Along with plastic cladding across the body, the render car sports giant wheel arches to make it look even more beefier.

The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will feature forward-facing third-row seats across the range for greater safety.

Mahindra will modify the front end of the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio to comply with the latest pedestrian safety requirements, and equip it with a less prominent bumper.

Apart from the styling updates, an all-new cabin with premium touches and a host of new features will also feature on the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio. With the same BS6 2.2-liter diesel engine as the outgoing model, Mahindra is expected to offer the all-new Scorpio, while it could also get a new turbocharged petrol engine. Pune-based car maker is likely to launch the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio sometime next-year.
