The first photos of the 2021 BMW 5-Series facelift has appeared on BMW Blog showing the executive sedan’s mid-life refresh.
Seen here in M Sport form, the pair of photos shows that slight cosmetic changes will be made to the facelifted 5-Series including new clusters of headlamps and tail lamps. Thankfully, the grille has not grown in size like the 7-Series, instead its more in line with the latest 3-series design.
With a 530e badge, its evident that the upcoming 5-Series seen here is the plug-in hybrid variant with the M Sport Package. The twin-kidney grill has a chrome frame and is flanked by slimmer LED headlights that have L-shaped daytime running LEDs. It has different front bumper with greater air vents and a trapezoidal air dam.
On the front fender, we can see a charge port opener. At the rear, the new 2021 BMW 5-Series facelift gets tweaked tail lamps which for some reason do remind me of Honda, and mildly updated dual-tone bumper with twin exhaust tips. The car rides on new dual-tone alloy wheels.
The BMW 530e plug-in hybrid is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor delivering torque of 249 BHP and 420 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox sending power to the rear wheels or all four corners of the car.
The upcoming 2021 BMW 5-Series facelift is expected to go on-sale in India in mid-2021 (May-August 2021). Does the facelifted 5-series have what it takes to rival the revised Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the all-new A6?
