Mercedes-Benz created history in India by Rolling out the first BS VI Complaint car in India. The German automaker rolled out the 350d sedan which is the most powerful diesel car produced by the auto maker. It won some Honours from known personalities due to BS VI Standards.
A CMVR (Central motor vehicles Rules) certificate was awarded to the MD and CEO, Mr Roland Folger by the director of ARAI, Rashmi Urdhwareshe. Minister of Road Transport, Mr Nitin Gadkari also attended the event. Many more vehicles are expected to arrive with BS VI standards in the next couple of years. ARAI had certified the car based on some tests conducted such as,
- Tail-pipe emission Test
- Engine power test for BS-VI fuel
- On board diagnostic (OBD) test
- Real driving emission(RDE) based on its emission performance test
The S350d comes with a 6-cylinder diesel engine giving 255 BHP of power and 620 Nm of Torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed Automatic transmission. THE BS – VI engine under the hood will ensure reduced consumption with low emissions possible.
It is being priced at Rs. 1.19 Crore (ex-showroom Delhi). Emission standards are improving day-by-day and it would not be a surprise to see more mass car makers jumping to the bandwagon.
