Renault India to launch Kwid facelift & Captur ‘Bose Edition’ by end-2018

Renault India is looking to minimize the number of products in its portfolio by focusing on products aimed at the affordable end of the market. The French carmaker has seen a dip in sales of late, and will pull the plug on premium offerings more sooner than later. To counter the sales dip, Renault will aim to launch 2 new models before the end of the year.

The Renault Kwid facelift may to get changes like re-styled bumpers, grille and slightly reworked interiors for a fresh look and feel.

One of them will be a facelifted version for the Kwid hatchback. There has not been any details of it coming out yet, but we can expect changes like an updated bumper, grille and a redesigned interior to take place. However, it will be powered by the same set up of engines, notably a 0.8-litre and a 1.0-litre petrol engine.

The other model due for an upgrade will be the Captur premium SUV. Renault launched the Captur last-year, and has not been able to catch the eye of the buyers which has resulted in poor sales numbers. The automaker is planning on launching a new variant of the car, once again targeting the premium customer.

Renault Captur Bose Edition will sport an advanced sound system developed by a well known brand in the audio industry, Bose Corporation.

At present, the Captur is sold in both petrol and diesel options and does not have an AMT gearbox. However, the petrol engine of the Captur is likely to get a CVT transmission, with the variant set to roll out in end 2018. Renault have plans to launch a limited edition of the car as well, christened the ‘Captur Bose Edition’, though there has been no confirmation on it yet.

The automaker also has plans to roll out the next generation Duster to the Indian market, which will happen next year. With more affordable products lined up for the next couple of years  we can expect a boost in sales for the French automaker. These include a premium hatch, sedan and an MPV which will replace the Lodgy from its line up.
