My my, what a surprise – folks at GaadiWaadi have snapped the upcoming Maruti Compact SUV (Codenamed: YBA) almost completely undisguised, save for a bit of black tape covering the head- and tail-lights.
The company did confirm that the YBAa will be launched before March-2016.
Looking at the spyshots, I can say the YBA SUV isn’t that sporty as expected. Even though the YBA is expected to retain cues from its concept version ‘XA-Alpha’ displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo, it looks much more like a Suzuki iV-4 Concept, which was displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. It is rumored that the YBA will be called Vitara Brezza when it goes on-sale.
The YBA will measure less than 4 metre in length and will directly compete with the EcoSport. Like the EcoSport, the YBA too looks like a hatchback on high-heels. The YBA running on steel wheels look smaller and window frame similar to Swift, fail to highlight the fact that this is a true-SUV. The USP however would be the AMT equipped diesel variant which is in consideration.
World debut is expected to take place at 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
Powering the YBA will be the be familiar engines; the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine used in the Ertiga and Ciaz and the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced MultiJet diesel engine seen in many Maruti Suzuki cars. Maruti’s self-developed 1.5-litre diesel motor and Suzuki’s new a 1.0-liter turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine announced at the Geneva show this year will be available at the later stage.
There is no fix date for launch of the YBA aka Vitara Brezza at the moment, but believed to be launch in first half of 2016 probably by March-2016. As far as pricing is concerned, the YBA is speculated to priced in the range of Rs 5.5 – Rs 8 lakh bracket.
