Hyundai Santro second-gen launched in India: Priced from Rs. 3.90 lakh

We had our first exterior look at the new Hyundai Santro last-week. Now, the second-generation Santro has been officially launched by Hyundai Motor India, and you can check it out at Hyundai showrooms nationwide.

The new model is available in 2 fuel options – Petrol and CNG, and is offered in 5 variants – D-lite, Era, Magna, Sportz, and Asta. A total of 7 colours are on offer – Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Stardust, Imperial Beige, Marina Blue, Fiery Red, and Dyna Green.

The 2019 Santro sits on the K1 platform, which also underpins the current Grand i10. Like its predecessor, the new Santro features a tallboy design. Its front-end features a large cascading grille, swept-back headlamps, and high-set foglamps. On the side, the Santro has two distinct feature lines around the wheel arches and a kink in the window line. The car comes with ORVMs with integrated turn signals and 14-inch steel wheels that have silver wheel caps. At the rear, the car has a dual-tone bumper with integrated reflectors, rear windshield wiper, a roof spoiler as well as wraparound tail lamps.

Global Debut of In-house Developed World-Class Smart Auto AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).

On the inside, the new Santro comes with a dual-tone interior featuring circular AC vents on either side, while the centre console is flanked by a set of triangular AC vents. It houses a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that has Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirrorlink connectivity, voice recognition and navigation. You get a multi-function steering wheel and a twin-dial instrument cluster with a 2.5-inch MID placed on the right hand side. The power window switches are placed between the front seats next to the gear lever. The front seats have fixed headrests.

Major highlights of the 2019 Santro includes air-conditioning with rear AC vents, electrically adjustable ORVMs, folding rear seat, 2-DIN audio system (Magna AMT) and optional Diana Green interior trim. As far as safety is concerned, the new model gets ABS with EBD and driver side airbag. Higher variants get dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, rear view camera among others.

Made-In-India Exported Worldwide with Over 1.86 Million Happy SANTRO Customers Globally.

Powering the new Santro is a 1.1-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that develops 68 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 99 Nm of torque @ 4,500 rpm. CNG option is available on select variants. On CNG, the engine produces 58 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 84 Nm @ 4,500 rpm. Both petrol and CNG variants come with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The petrol version gets an optional 5-speed AMT.
