The major difference lies in the heart, an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine will be doing the duty, replacing the earlier 1.6-litre TDi mill. This new entrant diesel comes in two different states of tunes namely 89bhp and 104bhp, currently only 89bhp engine is on-sale, while the more powerful variant 104 bhp will make debut in GT TDI. The petrol version gets a 1.2-litre, MPI engine from the old car spitting out 74bhp. Both versions are equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
As far as safety is concerned, the Polo facelift gets the ABS (Anti-Lock-Braking-System) as standard on all variants except the base one. As they are touting this as the safest premium hatch in the country the car bags four star Euro-NCAP rating for adult occupants. And at the launch ceremony, VW India also announced that the facelift variants of the Polo GT TDI, the Polo GT TSI and the CrossPolo will be making its way in September-2014.
