Maruti Suzuki will soon be introducing the second-generation of the Ertiga MPV in India. The next-generation Ertiga is scheduled to be launched on 21 November, 2018, not far away from now. It is likely to be sold at Maruti Suzuki’s NEXA outlets.
The second generation Ertiga is based on Maruti Suzuki’s ‘HEARTECT’ platform. This platform is seen on cars like the Baleno and the Swift. The second generation Ertiga will be longer and wider than the model it replaces.
Maruti Suzuki have opened booking for the Ertiga across the country. The booking amount to be accepted by dealers is Rs. 15,000. The Ertiga will feature a sporty design theme with new headlamps, tail lamps and a chrome grille.
It has retained the shape of the outgoing model, albeit in a larger form. It will come with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control alloy wheels, reverse camera and so on. On the safety front, the Ertiga will receive ABS and dual airbags as standard across all trims.
Engine-wise, the Ertiga will use the new 1.5-litre K15B engine seen on the Ciaz facelift featuring the Smart Hybrid dual battery mild-hybrid technology in all configurations in the interest of higher fuel efficiency. This engine delivers 100 BHP of power and 138 Nm of torque. There will also be a 1.3-litre diesel engine, which gives 88 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque.
It will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, with a four-speed automatic one being an option. When launched, the next generation Ertiga will be rivalling the Toyota Innova Crysta, Mahindra Marazzo and the Renault Lodgy. We can expect it to be priced at around Rs. 9 lakh, with the top trims casting Rs. 13 lakh.
