Maruti Suzuki will bring the next generation of its Ertiga MPV to the Indian market by Diwali this-year. The automaker is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that people sit up and take notice of the MPV. We can expect the Ertiga to be sold via Maruti’s NEXA dealership launched.
2018 Maruti Ertiga is longer, wider and taller than its outgoing model, however its wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,740 mm.
The Ertiga has been spied numerous times undergoing testing on Indian roads. This one is no exception as we can see the Ertiga wrapped in the heavy camouflage spotted alongside a Honda Mobilio . It is believed that the Honda Mobilio may be acting as a test product for some sort of comparison.
The Ertiga will come with several updates on the exterior and the interior. It will have features like new projector headlamps, rear LED lamps, dual tone upholstery, a 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and so on. On the safety front, the new Ertiga will get dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and rear parking sensors.
Bookings for the 2018 model is expected to commence soon, as launch is scheduled for late-October this year.
As far as the engine is concerned, the new Ertiga will employ a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 105 BHP of power and 138 Nm of torque. It is expected to come mated either to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
We can expect the prices to start form Rs. 7 lakh and go all the way to Rs. 12 lakh. The new Ertiga will rival the likes of the Renault Lodgy and the Toyota Innova Crysta. With the launch of the new Ertiga, the older model will still be in production albeit for the fleet and taxi market.
