Suzuki to launch GZ150 cruiser motorcycle in India this-year: Report

After the success of its Gixxer twins, Suzuki is bullish on launching more 150cc products in the future. This shift in thinking could be led by the launch of the GZ150 cruiser, which reports suggest is set to arrive later this-year.

The GZ150 will mark Suzuki’s entry to the budget cruiser segment, which is currently dominated by the Bajaj Avenger. Being a cruiser, the GZ150 has a retro and timeless design similar to other Suzuki motorcycles sold abroad. The GZ150 features a low seat height and a pillion backrest to name a few apart from its true cruiser image.

Powered by a 149.5cc air cooled engine, producing 15.42 bhp of torque and 11.2 Nm of torque to be precise. The motor will come mated to a 5-speed transmission. At present, the GZ150 is sold at a lower price compared to the Gixxer SF in other markets. In India, the Gixxer SF comes at a price point touching Rs.1 lakh.

If this possibility happens here, then Suzuki will surely have a winner in its hands. Prices are expected to be in the range of the Avenger 150. As of now, Suzuki is aiming to sell 5 lakh units in India in this fiscal year. This bike is going to be a vital cog in this mission, given Suzuki’s recent success in the 150cc segment here.
