The word ‘Hayabusa’ has almost become a synonym for the word ’Superbike’ in our country. Every person who are out of sync with the Automotive world tends to think that all huge faired motorcycles are Hayabusa’s, and we really cannot blame them, as this is the image that the monster motorcycle from Japan has created in the minds of people.
The Hayabusa has a powerful image, and is also a well rounded off product, which has kept its sales going strong, even though it is not the prettiest motorcycle out there. Its main rivals have moved on with the times, with aggressive designs and more technology than ever, but the Suzuki Hayabusa has had the same design for as long as I can remember. Well, it is a cult icon, but that just doesn’t mean that the design could remain the same forever, and I personally felt that the Hayabusa really needed a proper change in styling. Well, it looks like the folks at Suzuki were thinking on similar lines, as they are now developing an all-new Hayabusa.
Suzuki kept updating the Hayabusa with new colours and slight design changes and many more aftermarket additions, but it was time they gave it a proper redesign, and it looks that that is exactly what they are up to.
Young machine, a Japanese-motorcycle magazine has reported that the new Hayabusa may be based on the Concept GSX. Now, many of you may be wondering what that is; well, today, Suzuki had revealed the Concept GSX, which is a prototype of a motorcycle for design study unveiled at the on-going Tokyo Motor Show.
Suzuki had released an official press statement about the Concept GSX which stated the following:
“The concept GSX symbolizes the high-performance bikes that bear the GSX name. It gives form to Suzuki’s inline-four sportbike-making spirit and evokes a cocoon from which the company’s future sportbike models will be born.”
Along with this statement, the company also released an image of the concept which would inspire the design of the company’s future sportsbikes.
The Concept GSX seems very important to Suzuki, and we are expecting the new Hayabusa to be the first motorcycle to be based on the new Concept GSX design language, as it is currently their flagship motorcycle and will continue to be so in the future. Further, there are speculations that the new Hayabusa might be powered by a massive 1,500cc, 4-cylinder engine, which is much more than the current model which is powered by a 1,340cc, 4-cylinder motor, which is already very powerful.
All this seems very exciting to us! Watch this space for more.
