Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R launch soon – might get locally-assembled

Kawasaki is planning to launch the Ninja ZX-6R in India by the end of this-year or early next-year. The Ninja ZX-6R was recently spotted undergoing homologation from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). We can expect this 600cc sports bike to occupy the mid-capacity motorcycle segment for Kawasaki in the country.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R younger sibling, Ninja ZX-6R spotted at ARAI for homologation.

It will be paired alongside the likes of the Z650, Ninja 650, Versys 650 and the Z900 in an already competitive segment. We expect the motorcycle to reach here via the CKD route. The ZX-6R will be assembled in Kawasaki’s Chakan manufacturing facility located in Pune.

Kawasaki will market the ZX-6R as a feature-packed everyday sports bike. The features for the ZX-6R include a digital speedometer, ABS, front and rear disc brakes, twin spark pressed-aluminium chassis, pressed aluminum frame for great balance and traction control. It will arrive with an in-line, four cylinder, 636cc motor.

The ZX-6R will most likely come as knocked down kits from Japan (like the bigger ZX-10R).

This engine produces 120 BHP of power and 71 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 6-speed transmission. The Ninja ZX-6R is expected to be priced at around Rs. 12 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Once launched, this will make it the most affordable mid-capacity segment motorcycle in India. The ZX-6R will have its rivals in the form of the Ducati Panigale 959 and the MV Agusta F3 800. It will cater to sports bike enthusiasts looking for a good all-round everyday motorcycle to benefit their needs.
