Honda has patented a motorcycle recently and there have been rumours of the bike replacing Honda’s ageing Unicorn 150. But as of now, reports suggest that this patented motorcycle will be a 100cc commuter which will enter the volume segment, which forms the largest chunk of sales in Indian two-wheeler market.
The motorcycle looks like the CB 150F on-sale in Pakistan. The bike looks sporty, especially on the styling front, just like the CB Twister, compared to other commuters in the segment. It gets a fuel-tank similar to that of Honda’s 110cc Twister with extension.
The proof that it will be a commuter lies in that the bike does not have some essential features like disc brakes and a rear monoshock suspension (first to introduce in India), which is seen on the 150cc Unicorn. Though Honda is garnering good sales in the 125cc segment with the CB Shine, the company is not doing well in the Dream series offerings, thus, this patented motorcycle is more likely to be a 100cc motorcycle.
There is no official announcement yet on when the bike will be launched. If so, it will lock horns with the Hero CD Deluxe, HF Deluxe and the Bajaj CT100 in the all important volume segment. Since the Dream series have seen a dip in sales recently, this motorcycle will be massive to Honda’s future in the commuter segment.
