Honda 150SS Racer Concept – production possible

HONDA Thailand has presented a café racer concept, called as the Honda 150SS Racer. Produced by the Thai subsidy for the 2017 Bangkok Motor Show, the concept is described as an example of the ‘Neo-retro Racer’ style that seems to be in fashion at the time.

Honda 150SS RACER Café Racer Concept Unveiled at Bangkok Motor Show.

There is no much information available on the 150SS Racer. It shares the same frame and 150cc 4-valve DOHC engine found on the CBR 150R but uses a completely new subframe to support its solo seat and small tail. The sculpted tank and bodywork gives it a muscular, aggressive, and futuristic stance, yet retro-inspired touches are evident in the undrilled brakes discs and the styling of the silencer.

Honda is popular to show-off its design like on the CX-01, CX-02 which have been not talked about, after the biennial event. That said, the basis for the CBR250RR was Honda’s Light Weight Super Sports Concept showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. So there are chances that this 150SS Racer concept might enter production, but don’t expect it to hit the showrooms anytime soon.

The 150SS Racer may spawn a production motorcycle for emerging markets like ours.

Then of course there are all of the dummy, expensive parts which absolutely won’t make it through to production; huge carbon wheels, interesting looking silencer, upside-down forks and carbon mudguards aren’t expected to see the light of day on production-spec model.
