Volvo’s performance-oriented brand, Polestar marks its official entry into the Indian market with the launch of the S60 Polestar at a price of Rs 52.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It marks the debut of Volvo’s ninth car in India and will be sold as the brand’s first high-performance car.

The S60 Polestar is a pure performance breed featuring a signature Polestar blue paint job, sportier body kit, large 20” Polestar alloy wheels, of course a rear-spoiler as well a front spoiler to generate downforce and keep the car planted on the ground. In terms of mechanics and features, the new S60 Polestar will receive larger brakes and enhanced suspension.

The interior design is defined by the blue stitching on the nubuck leather seats and Polestar badges on the gear selector lever and the seat headrests. The steering is also a new unit, while the centre console has been detailed with carbon fibre inserts. Carbon fiber elements are to be seen throughout its interior makeup as compared to wooden and aluminum inserts seen in the standard sibling.

Under the hood, the S60 Polestar is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cyl turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine, sending power to all-four-wheels through a Haldex all-wheel drive system via an 8-speed automatic transmission. This motor developing 362 BHP and 470 Nm of torque, can accelerate from 0-100 KMPH in 4.7 seconds, and can touch a top speed of 250 KMPH.

As of now, there are no direct rivals for the Swedish performance sedan in the Indian market which is similar in terms of performance and positioning, this makes the Polestar S60’s price tag a brilliant proposition in the performance luxury car market.
