Mahindra Scorpio facelift – full front-end gets rendered based on spyshots

The Mahindra Scorpio has been in the Indian market for about 15 years now, and the car has seen massive success at that time. But currently, the macho SUV is falling-off the radar of the buyers, who instead prefer new-age and feature packed SUVs based on international tech. To restore the cars lost sheen, Mahindra is preparing to launch a facelifted version of the Scorpio by the end of this-year.

Rendering wiz SRK Designs for IndianAutosBlog has provided his take on what a Scorpio facelift would look like, based on the latest spy pictures. These rendered images tell that the Scorpio is set to sport a bolder looking new ‘toothed-grille’ with chrome inserts similar to the Imperio (a premium pick-up). The projector headlamps are loaded with LED eyebrows, while the rest are retained from the existing model.

Reports suggests that the Scorpio is also due for an mechanical update. The car will receive the transverse version of the 2.2-litre mHawk 140 turbo diesel motor, which does its duty on the XUV 500 producing 140 BHP and 330 Nm. The car is also expected to be launched in an automatic variant along with the 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Once launched, the Scorpio facelift will lock horns at the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and the Tata Safari Storme. This update will mark the first for 2nd-gen SUV and the company will hope that the gamble may pay-off just as it did a decade ago. This car will also be a part of Mahindra’s major attack on rivals, with 3 more vehicles to be launched alongside it!
