SPIED: 7-seater Jeep Premium SUV seen for the first time!

Jeep are at the moment readying a 7-seat SUV for developing markets such as India and Brazil. This SUV will be placed above the Compass in its line-up and slot into the premium SUV space here. It will be launched first in Brazil, followed by emerging markets such as ours.

Jeep are reportedly set to be launching the vehicle here during the end of 2021. As of now, the vehicle is undergoing its development stage. Recently, the 7-seat SUV was spied undergoing testing in Brazil.

Codename the ‘Low-D 3-row SUV’, it was seen heavily wrapped in camouflage. Jeep confirmed the Low-D in its plans during the 2018 Investors Summit held in Uttar Pradesh last year. Similar to the Compass, it will be based on FCA’s small-wide 4×4 platform.

Engine-wise, the India-spec version of the Low-D could be powered by the 2.0-litre Multijet or the 2.2-litre Multijet range of diesel motors. While the former delivers 170 BHP of power and 350 Nm of torque, the latter is capable of making 200 BHP of power and 450 Nm of torque. Jeep may also consider bringing the 1.3-litre and 2.0-litre petrol motors, which are currently being developed.

It is expected to be available in both manual and automatic transmissions. All the trims will receive Jeep’s AWD drivetrain support. When launched, the Jeep will lock horns with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq, Honda CR-V and the Mahindra Alturas in its segment.
