Well, well, what have we here? A Team Fiat Moto Club member, Asif Shereef, spotted 3 Suzuki Vitara in Maruti-Suzuki’s premises recently, ahead of its 2016 Auto Expo introduction here in India. Thanks buddy!
At the moment, not much can be said of the Suzuki Vitara’s launch in the Indian market. That said, seeing the locally-manufactured compact SUVs ruling the market, we won’t be surprised if the Vitara makes debut in India next-year and will be only retailed through the company’s exclusive showrooms known as NEXA.
The cars spotted here are the European-spec cars, as the Suzuki Vitara is currently only manufactured at the company’s Hungarian plant. Even if the Maruti Suzuki plans to launch here, the company is likely to use the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route, thus, the pricing will go-up of around Rs. 15 lakh pushing itself against the Skoda Yeti.
The three Vitara’s could have been imported into India for a next year’s Auto Expo in Noida , where the company could gauge the right response from prospective customers. Although Maruti hasn’t confirmed the launch of the Vitara, but the moderate sales of S-Cross might have motivated the company to launch the Vitara in India, covering all possible price segments with a comprehensive line-up seems like a sensible move.
We’ll have to wait a while longer to get more details on Maruti’s flagship SUV. Here’s hoping it’ll come with the same set of 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines that are available in the other market. Higher variants get AllGrip AWD system.
So guys, are you as excited as we are?
