In one of our articles we stated that Indian two wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has a lot to prove on its solo journey after its divorce from Japanese partner Honda. Looking at the footfall at company’s pavilion at the ongoing Indian Auto Expo 2014, it seems that they are hitting the right chords with the Indian audience. The company recently unveiled a promising range of scooters at the event. Under this, it will have three new scooters coming up in 2015 and 2016- the Dash, Dare, and Zir. Endorsed by the Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, the range remained the real crowd puller yesterday. Let’s have a close look at the range unveiled by Hero MotoCorp to understand whether the product or the star brought out such fanfare.

The Hero Dash is a 110cc scooter which runs by drawing power from a forced air-cooled 4-stroke OHC engine.  You can enjoy fuel-lid opened with the ignition key, analogue digital meter, LED tail light, side-stand indicator, and Integrated Braking System (IBS). The lightweight 110 kg scooter can produce maximum power of 6.3kW at 7500rpm and maximum torque of  9.4Nm at 5750rpm. With 155 mm ground clearance, it can make inroads even in the rural areas. Expect this to be launched in the first half of next fiscal.

The next in line is Hero Dare scooter. The red and black theme looked amazing on the display model. The 125cc Dare can produce 7kW maximum power at 7500rpm and 9.8Nm of maximum torque at 6500rpm. It may be rolled out in the latter half of the next fiscal.

However, the biggest surprise remains the Hero Zir, an 157cc scooter.  It will come in two variants – a flat board model and a European step-thru style model. It is based on liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 2-valve DOHC engine which is capable of churning out 10.5kW peak power and 12.7Nm of torque. This will come to the market in the first half of the 2015-16 fiscal.
