Kawasaki has today launched the Z250 in country of Indonesia. The Z250 is the naked version of the baby Ninja which is the Ninja 250R. The bike is the streetfighter version of the highly populary 250cc bike and comes with the same body parts except the fairing. The Z250 will be aimed an altogether different audience who prefer the agility of a streetfighter but the power of a sportsbike from their ride.
The bike borrows its design cues from the Z800 which according to us is quite a good thing for the younger sibling but not so for the elder sibling as a lay man might mistake them for each other. But the Z250 volumes are going to be way more than those of the Z800 so it is better to keep the budget conscious buyer happier. The Z250 making its way to India is what remains a doubtful prospect because of the bike being expected to brought in as a CBU which would increase the price of the street fighter.
Kawasaki Z250 will have a 250cc, parallel-twin, fuel-injected heart which will churn out 33 horses and 22 Nm torque. The redline however comes up at 13,000 RPM which means you can pretty much set the city streets on fire. The bike will be mated to a 6 speed gearbox and will go faster than the fully faired sibling because of the less weight the engine will have to carry. So you are going to have a lot of fun driving this naked bike.
It will be offered in 3 colours which would be red, black and white and the Thailand facility of Kawasaki will be the home to this baby monster. It will compete with the likes of the KTM 390 and will sit below the Ninja 250R/300R. Kawasaki needs to give their India plans a second thought because if they plan on going the CBU route, they would not get anywhere but if they go the CKD route, a lot more green beasts will be adorning the Indian roads.
