Bajaj Neuron trademarked, new Dominar 400-based cruiser bike

Bajaj Auto are reportedly said to be working on an upcoming Cruiser motorcycle for the market. This comes amidst the wave of competition that will be surrounding the sub-350cc space here in the meantime. In fact, Bajaj Auto have also filed a patent for the given product, thereby trademarking it as ‘Neuron’.

This comes from a leaked document that has been recently doing rounds on the internet. It is being said that the Bajaj Neuron could be developed in association with Triumph, who themselves have specialised in making those at the higher ends of the market. Bajaj and Triumph are recently in a collaboration with each other and this could be yielding a slew of products starting from the Neuron.

The given cruiser will be sold alongside the popular Avenger series, which is amongst the best selling products that exist in the space currently. Bajaj Auto are yet to speak on the matter and there is a chance of the Neuron turning out to be a different product altogether. However, if it does turn out to be a cruiser, we can expect the Neuron to pose a serious challenge along with the Avenger series in the sub-350cc segment.

Bajaj Neuron could be powered by the same engine as seen on the Dominar 400. This is a 373.3cc motor which is capable of making 40 BHP of power. It also does come mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

There is also a good chance of the Bajaj Neuron getting a 250cc motor borrowed from the KTM Duke 250 and the Bajaj Dominar. The engine in question will be the 248.8cc motor which develops 26.6 BHP of power. This will be setting the Neuron apart from the Avenger series by being placed above the latter in Bajaj’s line-up.

If that turns out to be true, the 250cc version of the Neuron could be heading here after its 400cc sibling as like the Dominar. We can expect the Bajaj Neuron to be coming out of production at the very earliest in 2021. Thus, the Bajaj Neuron will be placed alongside the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Benelli Imperiale 400 and the recently released Honda H’ness 350.

In addition to that, its 250cc sibling will be locking horns with the yet to be launched Benelli Imperiale 250 and the Royal Enfield Sherpa later on. As for the prices, we can expect both the versions of the Bajaj Neuron to be available in excess of Rs.2-3 lakhs. This would in many ways present Bajaj an opportunity to stake their claim in the rising cruiser motorcycle segment.
