So far we have seen cross-over with 4-wheels but Honda has introduced the first ever 2-wheeler cross over a moto-scooter, NAVI (New Additional Value for India) at the Auto-Expo 2016. The NAVI is a 100% made in India scooter and will be offered at a price of INR 39,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The NAVI moto-scooter will be available in 3 variants – Street, Adventure and Off-road with 5 color options-Patriot Red, Hopper Green, Shashta White, Sparky Orange and Black. The NAVI will be powered by a 110cc HET engine coupled to an automatic transmission. Honda has introduced an online app on Android platform to book the Navi from their cell phones, the delivery of the Navi will start from April, 2016.
Speaking on the event, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, said –
“NAVI will take forward Honda’s fun DNA in India. From business point of view, almost 70 per cent of two-wheelers sold in India today have an engine displacement of up to 110cc. However, most of the models here, irrespective of their segment-motorcycle or scooter look alike without much differentiation in specs or features. Considering the potential and moving away from the syndrome of sameness, Honda R&D India challenged to create ‘New Additional Value for India’’-NAVI.’’
The styling and the design of the NAVI does look impressive and is sure to attract the teenagers and college goers, who always look for some thing new and affordable.
