Toyota Prius is just another example to prove Japenese car maker Toyota’s hand in hybrid engine technology. Though not quite a volume puller, Toyota Prius definitely has a place in the Indian car industry. Now, a revamped version of the petrol electric hybrid car is expected to make it to the 2012 Auto Expo from Toyota India.  The new hybrid car has already managed to woo the consumers at the Tokyo Motor show and is now all set to make a mark in the Indian industry as well. Honestly speaking, the makeover is decently distributed on the interiors, exteriors and the engine department alike.

On the exterior, the 2012 Toyota Prius is a way different from the outgoing model with a much subtler grille replacing the thin line in the name of grille. The headlamps now look more streamlined and thinner in comparison with the redesigned fog lamps which occupy the slot symmetrically on either side of the refined air duct. The hybrid hatchback is quite classy to begin with a mind-blowing Toyota Prius price of Rs 27 lakhs. The interiors and the overall performance of the car are in a different level and look all the more enticing in the new version. The black hue blends well with the grey interiors along with the silver inserts all at the right places.

On the inside, the car gets a host of features like Bluetooth, Rear-view camera, Automatic phone book access and audio streaming, iPod album cover display, A/C pop-up display, 11 speakers, 3D landmarks and city models,’Play More Like This’ music search, Advanced Voice Recognition and Text to speech functions.

Under the hood, the 2012 Toyota Prius remains unchanged with the same full and functional petrol engine of 1.8 L to go hand in hand with a stand-by electric motor. While the 1.8 L petrol engine accounts for a 98 Bhp power, the electric motor makes up for an additional 36 bhp taking the outcome to 134 Bhp. The 21 kmpl mileage blows all the horns which is pretty high for an electric hybrid engine to show such extraordinary numbers.
